Leave Accrual Rates. This table shows the rates at which an employee earns vacation and sick leave. A full-time employee who is paid monthly earns the amount shown under the number of working hours in the month. A full-time employee who is paid bi-weekly earns the amount shown under the number 160 /QW. Full-time and part-time employees accumulate sick and carer's leave during each year of employment. It starts to build up from an employee's first day of work. The balance at the end of each year carries over to the next year. Sick and carer's leave accumulates when an employee is on: paid leave such as annual leave and sick and carer's leave Leave accumulates gradually during the year and any unused annual leave will roll over from year to year. The Leave Calculator uses the FWO's best practice method of calculating leave accumulation. Leave Calculator results don't take into account any period that an employee was on workers' compensation.
